Turbo Charged Childhood
To medicate or not to medicate, this is the question!
The past two decades have seen an enormous increase in the number of children diagnosed with attention disorders. America has witnessed an alarming increase in the number of medications given to these children and teens. Some estimates suggest a staggering 1-3 million prescriptions are written each month for one ADHD medication alone!
Along with the medicines are potential side effects ranging from headaches to death. Parents are increasingly worried about placing their children struggling with Attention Deficits on these medications…and for good reason. Fifty-one deaths were reported in the US alone between 1999 and 2004 as a result of a single psychostimulant medication!
Consumer outrage sparked an FDA investigation and eventually a mandate to drug companies that psychostimulant medications include the infamous “BLACK BOX WARNING” that is the most intense and serious warning given to consumers about a medication they are about to use. In spite of the warnings, pharmaceutical companies rejoice in profits: parents look for other answers.
In his newly released book, Dr. Thomas presents simple solutions for managing and improving attention deficits using non-pharmaceutical interventions. It is a must read for any parent raising a child with an attention disorder and is available either in hardcopy or a downloadable eBook.
